B.M.E. College of Wooster, M.M. University of Wisconsin, D.M.A. The Ohio State University Dr. Amanda Bekeny is the trumpet instructor at Ashland University. In addition, she leads the University's Brass and Trumpet Ensembles and teaches Musical Styles. She has taught at Ohio Wesleyan University, Edgewood College, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Wooster Music Camp, and the University of Wisconsin Summer Music Clinic. Amanda graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Trumpet Performance from The Ohio State University in December, 2005, where she was awarded the A. Peter Costanza Award for the most Distinguished DMA Document. Additionally, she holds a Masters degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Music Education from the College of Wooster. Following her doctoral studies, Amanda studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for one semester. Amanda is busy as a freelance trumpet performer in the Northeastern Ohio area as a member of RED {an orchestra}, the Ashland Symphony Orchestra, and the Olympic Brass. She is a former member of the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, Ohio Light Opera Orchestra, and Ohio State Faculty Chamber Orchestra. Amanda has performed with the Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, Kent-Blossom Chamber Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony, Metropolitan Brass Quintet, Madison Symphony, Madison Opera Orchestra, Wheeling Symphony, and Columbus Bach Ensemble and has been a featured soloist with the Chagrin Valley Chamber Orchestra and Wooster Symphony.
