Music EducationAssistant Professor of Music B.M.Ed., Miami University; M.M.Ed., Wright State University; Ph.D. The Ohio State University Dr. Butke teaches music education courses for both majors and non-majors at Ashland University. She received a bachelors degree in music education from Miami University, a masters degree in music education from Wright State University and a doctorate in music education from The Ohio State University. Dr. Butke has taught general and choral music in public and private schools in Dayton and served as the music education specialist at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a frequent clinician and master teacher throughout Ohio with research interests focusing on reflective practice, comprehensive music education, and aesthetics. She holds certification in the Orff approach and has extensive training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Dr. Butke is a member of OMEAs Model Curriculum Review Committee for the new Ohio State Standards, is a Praxis III assessor, and is immediate past chair of the Ohio Society for General Music. |
