EEC Immersion Week
August 10-15

Five Ashland University students (Ted Brink, Kris Kennedy, Justin Johnson, Al Yambor, Kirk Weldy) were selected to attend the EEC Immersion Week at John Carroll University from August 10-15, 2008. They were accompanied by Read Wakefield, Director of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. Member Universities of the EEC include Ashland University, Baldwin Wallace College, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, John Carroll University and the University of Akron.
The consortium of universities selected 35 students (from various disciplines throughout their universities) to participate in an intensive week long entrepreneurship academy from August 10-15 at John Carroll University. The students learned about various aspects of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship by attending two sessions a day.
The students lived in a dormitory for a week and immersed themselves in topics and shared information with each other. They formed teams and created a new product or service never before presented at any other competition. At the end of the week they presented their ideas and plans to a team of judges for prize money.
Last year’s Ashland University team developed a web based provider service which many of the judges felt was a very good project. The students brought this project back to AU to continue with a business plan and to seek financing to make this concept a reality. The five students were David Dauch, Kristen Striker, Katie Moore, Brian Mozena and John Fox. Joe Fox has since joined the team. They have formed a company called Mozena, LLC.
For further information on the EEC Immersion Week either contact the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at 419-207-6976 or refer to the EEC website, www.eecneohio.com.
