ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Please keep in mind that you will not be able to register for courses until you complete the official admissions process, which takes approximately 3-4 weeks.

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  2. Grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher on a 4 point grading scale.  Applicant with less than a 2.75  but higher than a 2.00 may apply for provisional admittance status.
  3. Completion of the Pre-Admittance FormPDF File
  4. Completion of the Good Moral Character FormPDF File
  5. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Ashland University Center you will be attending.  The transcripts will then be forwarded to the Office of Teacher Testing & Licensure for review (Ashland, Ohio).  Check sheets of required tests and courses will be composed.  The completed check sheets will be provided to the candidate and appropriate Center.
  6. Two letters of recommendation.  Each recommendation should be on the writer's stationery and addressed to the identified person at the appropriate Ashland University Center.  Letters should come from college professors, employers, colleagues, persons with whom the applicant has done volunteer service, and/or appropriate military authority.  The writer should include his/her title.
  7. Personal interview with the Director, Assistant Director, or Coordinator of the Bachelor's Plus Program at the appropriate Ashland University Center.
  8. Demonstrated proficiency of oral, interpersonal and written communication skills on a continuing basis.
  9. Demonstrated keyboarding skills by all applicants for the Vocational Integrated Business Education program.
  10. Take and receive a passing score of 172 or higher on all three PRAXIS I tests (Reading, Writing & Math) during the first semester in the program and before doing the first field experience.  The PRAXIS I requirements may be met by having high enough scores on the ACT, GRE or SAT, based on evaluation.
  11. All French or Spanish licensure area students are required to take the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and must attain an Advanced-Low level.  This may be completed via telephone or online at ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview.  Please see your advisor for further information.
  12. Formal admission into the Graduate Teacher Education Program at an appropriate Ashland University Center and payment of admission fee is required.
