  4. FIELD EXPERIENCES

All admission requirements must have been fully met before a student can do his/her first field experience or receive credit for that experience.

NOTE: For the entering student, the question of taking required field experiences or receiving credit for prior college courses and/or prior work/teaching experience must be resolved before a student registers for a field experience. If a college course or experience has been used to credit a field experience, registration is not required for that particular field. If an entering student is required to take a particular field experience he/she must register with a minimum time of four weeks to find an appropriate placement. Ashland is in competition with other colleges/universities, therefore, ample time for placement is needed. After this the student must fill-out the student biographical data form and field experience application in September for placement during the spring semester and in January for placement during the fall semester.

  1. PRAXIS TESTING

If a PRAXIS I Test score in any of the three sections is below 172, the student must take successful action to meet the requirement of the PRAXIS I Test before the beginning of the next field experience. The university will provide tutoring for students who have not passed/completed the requirement of the PRAXIS I Test.

    • PRAXIS II: Must pass both the PLT and the SPECIALTY TEST(S) as prescribed by the State of Ohio.
