The Ohio Department of Education has approved Ashland University's Bachelor's Plus Program for teacher licensure. The State Standards of January 1, 1998, have determined the Ashland University standards for licensure. All programs have been approved. Applications are submitted and reviewed by the licensure officer of Ashland University who, upon approval, forwards them to the State. The Ohio Department of Education is ultimately responsible for issuing the earned licensure.
An initial, two-year, provisional teaching license is issued by the Office of Certification/Licensure, Ohio Department of Education, to persons completing the Bachelor's Plus Program. The candidate must have completed the required courses in the teaching field, education methods courses, classroom field experiences, student teaching, and required examinations to be eligible for licensure.
This initial teaching license is the same license that is issued to the four-year teacher education undergraduate candidate.
