Specific Program Information

     Students can be admitted to the Ashland University graduate

      School and  Master of Education Program as a regular Master's

      Degree student working toward a specific degree, a post Master's

      student working toward additional hours beyond his or her current

      Master's Degree, or as a student working strictly toward a licensure

      or endorsement.

       A capstone is a culminating experience in which Master of Education

       candidates analyze problems, synthesize information from multiple

       sources, aply theory in professional settings, evaluate findings, and

       identify implications for practice.

       The Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a  

       concentration in Classroom Instruction is a major for students looking    

       for a program that can be tailored to their unique needs.

       This program is a 35 semester hour Master of

       Education Degree program designed to fully develop

       the leadership potential of practicing teachers

       This Master of Education degree is appropriate for both

       the classroom teacher seeking additional expertise in

       the instruction and assessment of literacy and the reading

       specialist preparing for specialized teaching situations.

       The Educational Administration program is ne of Ohio's

       largest administrator preparation programs. The State of

       Ohio licenses are offered for principal candidates at every

       level, administrative specialists in curriculum and instruction,

       administrative specialists in pupil personnel and superintendents

       of schools.

       Through its centers in Ashland, Elyria and Massillon/Stark,

       this program provides an opportunity for students to obtain a

       Gifted Endorsement (only 20 semester hours).    The endorsement

       prepares individuals to teach students gifted and talented K-12 in

       Ohio.

       Middle Childhood candidates are licensed to teach in any

       two of four core content areas - Language Arts, Social Student,

       Math or Science.  Candidates complete approximately 24 semester

       hours in each content area.  These courses are mostly basic entry

       level courses with one or two advanced level courses.

       Massillon/Stark Center

       This program consists of 36 hours for the Masters: 45 hours for

       the license.  Web-enhanced courses will have two or three face to 

       face sessions at a designated location, with remaining sessions

       conducted using our web tools.  You must complete all core courses

       and the major professional and elective courses listed to achieve this
