& Lecture Series

The Spectrum Arts & Lecture Series at Ashland University is a collection of events offering students, faculty, staff, as well as the community, unique experiences.  The well-known speakers and artists expand the knowledge of attending audiences.  Each year, the Spectrum Series consists of a family-oriented program, homecoming comedian, lecture and theatre or musical performance.

When Sylvia McNair witnessed Robert Wesner in a solo dance performance, she expressed the desire to participate with him in a trio of voice, piano and dance of Broadway melodies - Gershwin, Arlen, Rodgers and Sondheim, a repertoire they love. This collaboration will prove to be an unforgettable evening.

Sylvia McNair is one of the world's leading singers with 2 Grammy Awards, over 70 recordings and worldwide accolades. She has performed with almost every major American and Eurpoean Orchestra and Opera Company and worked with the world's most prominent conductors. A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Sylvia has received honorary doctorates from Westminster College, Indiana University, and the Ohio Governor's Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts and Entertainment. Sylvia McNair has an enviable talent and is a musical treasure.

Ted Taylor, New York pianist and conductor will accompany Sylvia for the evening. As a pianist for some of the world's most talented vocalists, Ted's piano skills and musicianship are memorable.

Robert Wesner is a well-known and respected young dancer nurtured by the dedicated and talented Hellie Schussler, Director of the Ashland Regional Ballet. Robert has an fantastic reputation as an artist and choreographer in many areas of the United States dance world. We are fortunate to witness his remarkable gifts. He will choreograph and dance, along with members of the Ashland Regional Ballet, the eveningsBroadway selections.
