NEXT STEPS FOR BACHELOR PLUS/TEACHER LICENSURE STUDENTS
STEP 1: Review Electronic Award on WebAdvisor
Incoming Students and Students Who Have Not Attended AU in the Last Six Months - receive a paper copy of their initial award through the mail. They will also receive an email at their AU email account notifying them when they can access their award on WebAdvisor. (Incoming students receive an AU email account and access to WebAdvisor after they first register for classes.)
Returning Students - receive an email at their AU email account notifying them when their initial electronic award is available for viewing on WebAdvisor.
All Students -
returning students receive notices of revised awards by email only;
incoming students will receive paper revised awards until registered.
Students may review and print their award and check for missing
forms WebAdvisor.
STEP 2: To Receive Federal Stafford Loan Listed on Award
- All new Stafford Loan borrowers at AU in the Bachelor's Plus Program are required to apply for and complete a Promissory Note as a condition of receiving the loan. Click on the link below to access FASTChoice. Once you have entered your name and read a page of information regarding loan terms, click continue. You may then review the benefits offered by several lenders and select one. Then click "apply now" on that lender's link to apply for and sign a Stafford Loan promissory note for that lender.

- In addition, ALL first-time Stafford Loan borrowers or borrowers
who do not currently have outstanding Stafford Loans are required
to complete Entrance Loan Counseling.

1. Im not eligible for a Stafford Loan,
how can I apply for a private loan?
- Complete a AU Loan Application for Bachelor's Plus/Teacher Licensure Students and submit it to the AU Financial Aid Office.
- Apply directly to the lender of choice for the desired loan amount. A number of private education loans exist to assist students who are not eligible for the Federal Stafford Loan Program.
- Ashland University has provided a listing of some lenders who offer private education loans. Click on the link below to access FASTChoice. Once you have entered your name and read a page of information regarding loan terms, click continue. You may then review the benefits offered by several lenders. If you wish to apply for a loan with one of the lenders listed, click "apply now" on that lender's link and you will be forwarded to that lender's site to complete the application process.

2. How do I access my AU email account?
- go to www.ashland.edu and click on the link on the bottom lefthand side and then login
- if unsure if you have an active email account go to www.ashland.edu and at top right click on directories and do a search on your last name; USERNAME is the part of your AU email address that is prior to "@ashland.edu"; PASSWORD on initial access to your email account is your AU student id #.
3. How do I access my award on WebAdvisor?
- access WebAdvisor at https://webadvisor.ashland.edu
- click on "WebAdvisor for Students"
- go to "Financial Aid" and click on "Financial aid award letter"
- login with User Name and Password
- Username is the same as your AU email Username
- If accessing WebAdvisor for the first time, your temporary password is the last six digits of your social security number. You will be prompted to provide a new password.
- Contact the IT Department at 419-289-5045 or at helpdesk@ashland.edu if you have problems accessing your WebAdvisor account.
4. Do I have any missing forms?
- go to https://webadvisor.ashland.edu, click on "WebAdvisor for Students" and login
- under Financial Aid click on "My FA Forms"
- incoming students will receive a letter if forms are outstanding
- contact your Financial Aid Counselor if you wish to be authorized to obtain a student job

6. What is the cost of attending AU?
- The charges for attending AU are found at http://www.ashland.edu/services/business/tuition.html
7. What payment plans are available?
- bills are mailed to student in July for fall semester and December for spring semester
- short-term monthly - 10, 11 or 12 monthly payments through TuitionPay Plan. Sign up at www.tuitionpay.com or call 1.800.635.0120.
8. If my family’s financial situation
changes for the worse, can I receive additional aid?
Review the Special
Conditions Form to determine if any of the circumstances
described apply to your family. If so, print, complete and submit
the form to the Financial Aid Office so that your eligibility for
a Subsidized Stafford Loan may be re-evaluated based on the current
financial situation.
9. I haven’t filed the FAFSA
yet. May I still do so?
The priority date to apply for aid each year is April 30. To be considered for a Stafford Loan you must file the FASFA. The FAFSA data must be received in our office from the federal processor and a Loan Application for Graduate/Post-Baccalaureate Students and any other necessary processes completed at least 30 days before the last day of attendance to be considered for a loan.
