How to Apply for Federal Loans for Ashland Theological Seminary

Step by Step for Students Enrolled in Seminary Degree-Granting Programs and the Diploma of Christian Studies

Loan applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those applications submitted by April 30.

Students who apply for loans late may need to pay for tuition temporarily (i.e., credit card) until the loan is processed. The Seminary requires that payment be made by the first day of classes unless a student has an approved Stafford Loan and all required paperwork processed. The student who has paid for classes may then request a refund check from the Student Accounts Office after the loan has been applied to his/her account and after the student has attended the first class session.

Students must reapply each spring to obtain a loan for the following academic year.

To apply, please complete the following steps:
  1. Be accepted for admission to a Doctoral/Master's Degree or Diploma of Christian Studies Program and intend to enroll at least half-time (i.e., 4 credits) per term.
  2. Complete the AU Seminary Loan Application for the appropriate academic year
