Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) The FAFSA must be completed and submitted to the federal processor by all students who wish to receive federal student loans. The priority date for submission of the FAFSA is April 30 for graduate students to receive aid for the following academic year. Use the AU Title IV code -- 003012 -- to have your Student Aid Report sent electronically to Ashland University.
Summer Loan Application (Apply Online) [The 2009 Summer Loan Application will be available in late January 2009]
Stafford Loans are available for students who plan to enroll at least half-time in the Summer Session. Students who have not completed the current year's FAFSA must complete one to receive a Stafford Loan for the Summer Session. In addition, all students who wish to receive a loan for the Summer Session must complete the Summer Loan application.
Seminary Loan Application for Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters and Dmin Terms 1-4 (Apply online) Note that you must enter a zero or a number on each of the credit hour and amount requested lines or you will be unable to complete the application
Ashland Theological Seminary students enrolled at least half-time (4 hours) in a Master's or Doctoral Program or the Diploma of Christian Studies Program are eligible for the Federal Stafford Loan. In addition to the FAFSA, an AU Loan Application for Seminary Students must be submitted prior to each academic year before a federal loan can be processed. Additional information regarding eligibility for the Federal Stafford Loan is available at Student Loans on our website and in the application packet.
2008-09 Special Conditions Form (pdf)
The Special Conditions Form is available to families whose current financial situation differs significantly from the financial data submitted on the most recent FAFSA due to extraordinary circumstances such as unemployment, divorce, large medical expenses, etc. Appropriate documentation of the condition must be submitted with the form and the Financial Aid Office must be notified if the financial situation improves during the year.
2008-09 Verification Worksheet (pdf)
The federal government selects 30% of FAFSA applications for verification each year. Once selected, the graduate student must complete this worksheet and submit signed copies of his/her current year tax forms (and spouse’s tax form if married and filing separately) before a federal loan can be processed.
Upon request from the Financial Aid Office, complete and return if you have not filed federal income taxes.
2008-2009 Federal Graduate PLUS Loan Application (pdf)
Please note: This is not the application for a Federal Stafford Loan!!!
Students in Seminary degree-seeking programs whose cost of attendance is more than their Stafford Loan eligibility may apply for the Graduate PLUS Loan. However, students must apply for their annual loan maximum eligibility under the Federal Stafford Loan Program (using the Seminary Loan application above) before applying for the PLUS Loan. The lender will complete a check for adverse credit history to determine eligibility for the PLUS Loan.
