Recent Phishing Hits the University
Several e-mail accounts have been receiving a false e-mail message stating that the Information Technology Department is asking for user information. This is a hoax. As was noted in a previous campus-wide e-mail, Information Technology will NEVER ask for your password or other confidential information via email. Please delete and do not respond to this e-mail message.
Here is an example of the fraudulent e-mail:
This mail is to inform all our {Ashland.edu} users that we will be upgrading our site in a couple of days from now. If you are a user of our site you are required send us your Email account details so as to enable us know if you are still making use of your mail box. Further be informed that we will be deleting all mail account that is not functioning so as to create more space for new user. so you are to send us your mail account details which are as follows: |
